MARCH 2002Welcome to the first newsletter of the Another Girl at Play website! I am proud to finally and officially launch the website! And what a website it has become!Over twenty amazing, talented and inspirational women are currently profiled and prove that it is possible to turn your passion into your livelihood. Each one of these women offers wonderful advice, practical information, inspiring revelations and much needed encouragement. Each of them is unique yet once you read through all their stories you will start to notice a common thread - each of them at some point still has fears yet preservers despite them. This shows that living a dream is possible if we just believe in ourselves a little and try! All of these women were kind enough to share their story because they believed in the project. None of them ever asked for money or what was in it for them. To me, in this day and age, that is truly remarkable! They took time off from making their living to help others hopefully start to make theirs. This shows how wonderful and supportive the arts community is, and each and every one of us needs to continue to support it. My theory is that if you want to be a part of art, you must first support it. By simply checking out the website or passing the site address onto others, you are helping to support art! So thank you to each and everyone of you for that. There are other ways to support art and creativity. You can visit the websites of the women profiled and if they inspired you - write them and let them know! Or tell your friends about them! And the next time you're thinking of a gift for someone (or yourself!) think about purchasing a gift from an artist - either one of the fabulous women showcased here or from your local community. If you hear someone talking about how they'd one day love to write a book or open a shop, offer them lots of encouragement! I am reminded of the quote by Antione de St-Expurery, "Reminding one another of the dream that each of us aspires to may be enough for us to set each other free." Let us keep reminding each other of our dreams, and that it is possible to live them! |
