Hi Tori!

I loved this article about your art. I am 54 yrs old and just now releasing my "inner artist"! It is so inspiring to know that women your age are listening to YOURSELF and following your heart - something I taught my own daughter (age 26) and am just now doing for myself. Congratulations on your art, business and family.

[...] Get to it and do it. Learn who to listen to, and who to ignore. Go with your guts, ask for help and you’ll be steered the right way. Don’t take perceived failures too hard, learn to live with multiple rejections, and learn from them. You’ll apply what you know from the experience in the future to make the right decisions. Be persistent, tenacious and you’ll get what you’re going for. -Jenny Hart [...]

[...] Don’t wait. There are some things you just can’t figure out until you start doing it. Have conviction and be flexible. Stay focused while remembering to do stuff that is pointless and fun. Keep an open mind. Give it everything you can. There is no such thing as failure when you are following your passion. Don’t wait. -Julianna Arden [...]

[...] Each one of these women gave their own advice to other artists looking to be another girl at play. Here are my favorites: “Fortune Favors the Bold!” If you ask for something and the reply is “no” you aren’t any worse off than you are right now without it. There is no reason not to get started. -Tera Leigh [...]

Hi, I loved reading your story....I recently sold a retail store and have been fumbling around in my head for what I want to do next....I use to have a baby bedding business out of my homes years ago while my boys were babies....then the store emerged out of that, which was a gift store...I truly miss the creative side, and the relationships that you build with your customers...I am working as a parttime bookkeeper right now and feel a little stifled...considering going back into the quilt making..but at the same time I make and sell biscotti cookies...which I am still doing...I would love to market these on the internet, but have no idea how to build a webpage or the legal part that goes into selling food or any other product on the internet...your story was very inspirational...yes like you said follow your heart and do what you love, that is something that I have been telling my sons all their lives, as they watched me grow in my buisness....but now I am on the other side of the fence...and I feel like I need to jump back out there again...in these bad ecomomic times I wonder if this is the right time to take the jump...
The internet like you said has connected so many people together, the blogs are amazing...I am not on one..but yes you can spend hours just looking in amazement...
Any feed back would be greatly appreciated..thanks..Bridget

I came across this post and found it very helpful. I'm 25 years old and have been a full time freelance designer for about a year now. My dream is to become a stationery artist and sell my designs in many boutiques and stores. I have been researching how to start something like this and this interview was really great help. I appreciate her honesty and I can really relate to her. Thanks!

Thank you so very much for the wonderfully inspiring story. You are absolutely right, we tend to under-sell ourselves. It is an struggle not to, but I realize now that it does more harm than good. I must get the book. Thank you again.
